Watch your kids: 13-year-old boy accidentally kills himself as friends watched on Instagram Live
An American teenager died after he accidentally shot himself while his friends watched on Instagram Live, according to local TV station WXIA.
“I heard a big boom,” his mother Shaniqua Stephens said. “I couldn’t tell if it was a gunshot or what.” Stephens had just watched her 13-year-old son, Malachi Hemphill, take out the trash Monday evening when she heard the gunshot. She rushed upstairs with her daughter to find her son in pool of blood.
His phone was still streaming on Instagram Live. “We kicked in the door. We found him just laying there in a pool of blood,” Stephens told the station. “My daughter screamed and said, ‘Mom turn his phone off!’ As I proceeded to look at his phone he was on Instagram Live.”
The teen was live on Instagram holding a gun when it suddenly went off. He was rushed to the hospital where he died. “There was about 40 to 50 kids outside,” she said. “I guess these were the kids that were watching on live that live in the area.
I guess when it happened they just ran over here.” Stephens told WXIA someone told him to put a clip in the gun during the live video and he obliged. Stephens believes it was an accident and not a suicide.
Detectives are working to find out how Malachi got ahold of the gun. Stephens is now urging parents to keep a vigilant eye on what their children are doing. “Monitor their phones, just monitor your children,” Stephens said. “More now than anything.”

Zamfara started Sharia, today it has highest poverty rate —Sanusi
The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has said Zamfara State which started the implementation of Sharia law in Nigeria currently has the highest poverty rate in the country.
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Emir of Kano Speaking at the Mo Ibrahim Forum in Marrakesh, Morocco, weekend, Sanusi said many of those who seized religion as tool of getting power were not necessarily better than the rest of the people.
According to him, such people should, however, be given a chance to participate in a democracy, so that they don’t go on pushing a myth that they were not given a chance.
“Give them four years, after sometime people find out that they have not improved education, they have not put food on the table, they’ve not provided healthcare, they vote them out.
So long as you don’t give them a chance to try and succeed or fail, you have a myth of people being denied an alternative that would make their lives better. I think the mistake that many people make is that they simply don’t have the patience to wait four years.
We have had it in Nigeria; people came and said they were implementing Sharia. Zamfara State started Sharia in Nigeria; it has the highest rate of poverty in the country today.
It’s a matter of time for people to realise that this is all deception, this is all politics, this is not religion; it is about politicians appropriating religion as a discourse for getting into power.” Zamfara state implemented Sharia in 1999.
