Manchester
United manager Jose Mourinho has suggested that he would be willing to sell
some unneeded players from his squad before the end of the summer transfer
window.
The former Chelsea boss said during his first news conference at Manchester United that he and the club had “made a nucleus of four priorities, four positions, to give a certain balance to the squad”. According to ESPN FC, Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba remains a target for the club. The only first-team players to leave Old Trafford since the end of last season have been Victor Valdes and Nick Powell.
“It’s a new chapter in the club’s life,”
Mourinho said. “Always when you change a manager I feel it is a sad moment, but
it is a new chapter now. “We have brought a few new faces in, we will keep some
others but, in the end, it doesn’t matter who the manager is, who the new
players are, or who is staying or leaving — it’s Man United and Man United is
much more than any one of us.” The Portuguese coach added that he wants to win
“everything” at his new club. “I’m not humble when I talk about targets,”
Mourinho said. “I’m quite aggressive on that. I want everything and everything
is to win matches, play well, score goals, don’t concede goals. “I know that we
are speaking about a hypothetical situation, which is very difficult to reach,
but I want everything.” Mourinho has signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh
Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly so far this summer with Blaise Matuidi or Paul Pogba
set to join the trio. The former Chelsea boss said during his first news conference at Manchester United that he and the club had “made a nucleus of four priorities, four positions, to give a certain balance to the squad”.
