Ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo has reportedly stormed the Yar’Adua centre venue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention committee inauguration.
Pictures obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) showed the former PDP strongman waltzing through the crowd to the venue of the convention as observers could not place a reason for the appearance of their former chieftain.
This move by the Ogun high chief is coming barely 18 months after asking that his membership card of the PDP be torn in shreds in the state, and although nobody could give a succinct reason for the ex-president’s appearance, feelers have it that he may be finding his way back to the umbrella-carrying party.
Journalists also tried to know why the former two-term Nigerian president was doing at the opposition party’s convention committee inauguration, but met a brick wall as he refused to grant anyone audience.
If reports by the sources around are anything to go by, ex-president Obasanjo may be strategising on how to combine efforts with the PDP to oust President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration over their inability to ensure a steady economy.
Recently, Obasanjo said there is no need to investigate the allegations and counter-allegations of the 2016 budget padding in the National Assembly.
Recently, Obasanjo said there is no need to investigate the allegations and counter-allegations of the 2016 budget padding in the National Assembly.
He said this in reaction to the current budget padding accusation and counter accusation between the leadership of the House of Representatives and Abdulmumin Jibrin, the sacked chairman of the House of Reps Appropriation Committee.
The ex-president speaking to state house reporters on Monday, July 25, shortly after meeting behind closed-doors with President Muhammadu Buhari, said the country should rather get men of integrity in the federal parliament.
