Two youths apprehended for aiding Fulani herdsmen

In what appears to be the turning point on the systematic genocide that has been going on in the middle-belt region in
general and Southern Kaduna in particular, two youths from Kagoro were yesterday apprehended for aiding the Fulani herdsmen.

The youths who were apprehended on the 18th of October, 2016 agreed to not only serving as informants but also fought along with the herders in Plateau, Benue and Kaduna State. The two youths arrested are said to be from Malagum and Madamai districts of Kagoro, Kaura Local Government Area of southern Kaduna State.

This young man is the one that has been cooperating with the investigators.

The boys ran out of luck when one of them (the one from Malagum) returned from the Godogodo operation which took place on Sunday, 17th October, 2016 with blood-stained clothes. His elder brother was said to have noticed it and also overheard him discussing the issue on phone, likely with his paymasters. When the elder brother confronted him with the issue, the boy who is said to be the most notorious among the 3 threatened to kill his elder brother, saying that he is next. Afraid, the elder brother tactically reported the issue to the authorities.

Two of the boys were arrested and one is still at large. Somehow the issue got to the Chief’s Palace and when the angry youths heard about it they moved in droves to the Chief’s Palace requesting for the heads of the two boys. The police could not handle the pressure from the youths so they requested for assistance from the nearby military formation. Yet, several gunshots from the military could not deter the angry youths. One of accomplices, the most notorious, who wasn’t cooperating with the investigators, was then handled to the youths under pressure. He was then lynched in front of the Chief’s Palace. He was said to be so notorious that he was even considered for award by the herders.

According to them, they paid them twenty thousand naira (N20,000) for each person that they killed. The Godogodo incident claimed over 4o lives, and still counting!
